Returning to My Roots

As of the writing of this address, it’d be the first time in seven years that I was able to participate in a Gachimuchi / Wrestling Series 音MAD collaboration. To think, it’s been that long since the projects I was on in 2017… A lot of things have changed, grown, turned different, since then.

Between then and now, I had the opportunity to have helped organize both of the Old Spice collaboration projects, and was able to work with some colleagues of mine on various smaller scale projects. More Old Spice videos, fan made content for independent VTuber, Miori Celesta. But it always had circled around the essence and creation of 音MAD.

I’ll be honest. I look back at those times way back when in the earliest days, when I was getting my foot in the door in these types of projects and communities. I was excessively evergreen. I had the fan’s perspective and knowledge, turned into becoming one of the people who’d help make these sorts of videos. Somehow. And I’ll be the first to admit that I wish I had the experience that I do now for myself back then.

International Wrestling Festival 2017 (and Gachimuchi RPG Medley 2017, by extension) is a project that I’m happy people enjoyed. But I am not happy about how my involvement was. And ever since the belated upload back then, I wanted to make a change for myself. Hence, the Old Spice projects came to fruition. I’m glad that I was somehow able to reverse course, and alongside great people, be able to rewrite a path forward that I was not okay traveling down.

Fast-forward to the aforementioned mostly-current status that I’ve mentioned above. Being able to finally get small projects out on my own channel. And then the biggest project on my channel so far happens. I somehow feel a sense of deja vu. It felt like I was re-experiencing 2017 all over again, even if I had way more experience and knowledge of the tools of the trade. It definitely didn’t help with 2023 being mostly a rather challenging - and downright sad - year for me, outside of creative works.

I wasn’t happy with the self-inflicted crunch. I take full responsibility for the extra weeks of delay on myself. And when it finally got approved and released, I didn’t really feel fulfilled. And since, I’ve just been moving through the motions, focusing rather on my own self and personal matters, than creative works. Been that way since going into

That is, until I saw notable 音MAD creator, Sahara-san, post online one day for a public-open collaboration for Gachimuchi / Wrestling Series.

"I'm hosting a public-open collaboration for Wrestling Series!

We're currently accepting participants!"

A part of me felt like I shouldn’t partake in what would be a primarily Japanese-based collaborative project, but in the end, I decided to throw caution into the wind. Say “screw it” and DM’ed Sahara-san. And sure enough, we were in business.

He aimed for this project to be on the more lighthearted side of things, and mainly wanted to just have fun. And as I saw the community working, and being able to work with the very few foreign participants involved, it really felt like the motivation was coming back. I was making all sorts of ideas, audio and storyboards. Even got the chance to provide Gomen-san for sprite work, for the visuals on Unfounded Revenge!

In the end, I wanted to join Sahara-san’s collaboration because I wanted to get the motivation back, in some way, shape, or form. And in a way, I’d like to believe that it did. Obviously, we all have our own personal lives, jobs, and other things that would take away from what we love to do and create, but when it comes to passion? That’s something that if you lose, you gotta rebuild to get back. And what better way than to in a sense, return to my roots?

I still got a fair chunk of unreleased audio and ideas for 音MAD work that I’d love to release and put out on my socials. I’d love to be able to work with more of these communities on projects like these. As long as my schedule allows it, I just wanna work. So with that said…

I’m KnownForBS, and it’s an honor to have joined Sahara-san’s 2024 “Professional Wrestling Collaboration”!

I was responsible for the audio production of Ankira!? Kyousoukyoku, Trash, Unfounded Revenge, and Necrofantasia! I was also able to help do sprite work for Unfounded Revenge.

The following visual editors made these parts possible: DariusSheeno, Brando/RIcemaster3, Gomen-san, and slic.

I’d love to be able to release, work, and do more, in the future! Thank you so, so much to Sahara-san for the privilege of being able to participate, and please go follow and support the rest of the participants of this collaboration down below:
